Bare with me everyone, this will be a doozy.

So, about 2 years ago or longer, I used to work with a business partner named "Tom", let's say.

We had a bad falling out due to differences in the way business should be run as well as, I couldn't get past the type of person he was/is personally. Nevertheless, I chose to work with him in hopes of building something and then breaking off the business partnership later.

Tom ended up stealing a copy of my SS# and ID and has been hellbent on ruining my life in all aspects.

This is the part where I've had family and friends turn their back on me due to lies that this person had spread.

It came to my attention one day when I was hanging out with some friends, that they kept alluding to and also flat out saying things about myself having some sort of social media profile. Asking me about having lots of followers. (I don't use social media)

Then, I'd have friends all allude to the same things, things such as asking me if I'm gay, if I have a disease, and if I'm depressed.

When I ask them where this is coming from, they immediately freeze up and say that they've never heard anything, nor are they talking shit about me.

???

This, on top of having them swear that they don't talk to each other about me to anyone and that they don't know anything.

Not only this, but I've had people I don't know come up to me asking if I have a social media account (specifically instagram), to which I reply that I don't, then they proceed to snicker and give me a look of doubt.

Now, if this were a few people, no biggie. But when people I know as well as people I don't know are coming up to me and saying the same exact thing while telling me that they don't know anything, that is odd.

I've had huge falling outs with friends that I've known for awhile because of this. When I tell them that I've never written anything about myself or anyone else and sure as hell have never promoted myself in any way, shape, or form. They proceed to tell me that I need counseling and that I should seek a shrink. This, again, coming from people I don't know and those that I do, while again, claiming that they've never heard anything about me.

I've been accused by family of recording private conversations and spreading it as well as having the need for counseling as well.

Now, I know for a fact that it's Tom that has somehow written or spread things in my name and people seem to think it's coming from me. And because of this, whenever I tell people that he's spread it to the local neighborhood as well as places that I frequent, they look at me like I'm crazy.

Also, people that I know seem to pop up to places that I like to go to and it's not even that they see me and say hi, they sort of look for me and shrink away, as if to confirm that I'm there.

There's a lot more to this story but since this is just a Q&A type of forum, my question is:

If everything I'm saying is true, which it is, what kind of action can I take in order to keep this from happening. I'm having people give me dirty looks all the time, mentioning common theme things that Tom has spread in my name, and overall just being hated on by people because of him.

He knows what he's doing and he knows that he will do whatever it takes to cover up his tracks. This is classic case of a crime being committed and rather than having evidence, I know 100% who the culprit is, it's a matter of tying to back to him.

I'm at my wit's end trying to figure out how/what he is doing to spread stuff in my name without having anyone question it.

He's preventing me from my livelihood and also preventing me from being able to find employment as well.

Any advice, tips, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Also, whenever I mention this to people, they immediately start laughing and say, so it's slander/libel eh? while saying that they don't know anything about it.

And I'm prepared to sign whatever document or whatever it is, that states that if I'm lying or committing perjury by falsely accusing someone of this, that I'll go to jail or be punished. I will go all-in. I'm tired of being blamed for stuff that he's doing in my name.
