I have been developing a social media network that permits users to post local news/events and information.

I'm wondering what the legal ramifications toward myself (the developer) might be if someone uses my platform as to spread fake or inauthentic content, potentially in a manner that negatively affects local businesses. Suppose a user falsely posts that a restaurant is selling poisoned food, for example. Could that be viewed as defamation even if the fake content is promptly removed? Could I face legal ramifications?

How might establishing an LLC protect me in this case?

Thank you.
