I've been watching a youth YouTuber and noticed an identifiable building in the background, on their commute to school.

To humor myself, I combed through their videos, where I could see landmarks/buildings in the background, and I was able to identify their neighborhood, via Google Maps.

I then combed through "walking" distance videos, presumably from their home, plus any video that had views out their windows, and I was able to identify their house.

With all this investigation, I now have:

  • Their home address

  • Their regular commute route with times

  • Their most likely public transportation route with times

  • Their school address

  • A regular lunch location

  • A layout of their home

Now that I know anyone could determine the same things and more, I feel compelled to notify the YouTuber and their family.

What's the best way to do this, while keeping myself out of legal trouble, and ensuring them I don't mean to harass them?

1) Why do you think the YouTuber cares if you have identified them?

2) Create a throwaway Yahoo email address and email them.

3) Create a throwaway Gmail address and comment on their video on YouTube

4) Send them a letter

See Where can I report criminal intent found on the dark web? for other details on how to remain private or anonymous while contacting someone.

  • They take steps to obscure school logos, have mentioned keeping their city private, and avoid showing their actual house from the outside. They appear to be well off financially, so I doubt they are hiding their house out of shame/image.

  • I'd rather not comment on their public profile/videos, as that may alert real creepers that this information is available. Also, they do not have any private way to contact them, electrically, that I can find.

  • You can't find out their name from their home address? That's easy. Once you have their name, emails are easy to find.

  • @BlueDogRanch: If you have the address, do you need a name? Why can't you address the envelope to "Resident who posts videos on Youtube". Or their Youtube account name, for that matter.
