I want to experiment with my employer's proprietary data to create a machine learning model. My employment IP agreement states that this model would not be in the same domain as its operations, thus, I could use the model for commercial purposes if it was created without the employer's data.
Does my employer hold any ownership claim to a model (or company using that model) created without its data but was demonstrated as feasible with its data? Again, the application of the model would not compete with the company's scope of business (I asked my company and received written confirmation).
